Chapter History

The Rho Eta chapter of Phi Mu was founded in 2008 with only 63 members.  Today, Rho Eta has over 300 alumna and over 100 active members.  The chapter’s strong membership has allowed these women to collectively reach goals and change lives.  Phi Mu has had a radiating effect on Grand Valley’s campus by empowering our women to become leaders, philanthropists, scholars, and better versions of themselves.

Partnering with Helen Devos Children’s Hospital has been Rho Eta’s greatest accomplishment.  Over the years, we have held many Dance Marathon events, gaining support from our Greek and campus community. In the Fall of 2014 we introduced Miles for Miracles, an event we have continued since.  It is a 5K run to raise money and awareness for Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital located in downtown Grand Rapids. From this event, we have raised over $75,000 for Children's Miracle Network. Rho Eta is so proud that Helen DeVos is only a few miles from campus!  Each year, the sisters of Rho Eta aim to raise more money than the last.

Another aspect Rho Eta prides themselves on is the long lasting friendships formed from our chapter.  From pledge class sisters to bridesmaids and the nights of unforgettable moments and laughs, our chapter’s strongest achievement is the lifelong friendships and memories that our sisters have formed.  Over their four years in the chapter they form bonds that will undoubtedly last for a lifetime.
